Vision

I am the artistic director/choreographer for a modern ballet company aptly named courage group.

Because of my diverse training and intense leanings toward classicism,

I ask that all of my dancers be well-trained with a general understanding of

all of the western dance disciplines (save tap). That is ballet, modern and jazz techniques.

My dances are epic in length, visually arresting, and highly metaphoric.

Often I enlist the skills of other artists toward a collaborative result
(i.e. painters, musicians, architects, interior specialists, singers, lighting and

sound technicians, etc.).

I am more interested in taking the viewer on

a journey, universal in message, than I am in coldly

“presenting” a finished product.

I use all kinds of music and generally formulate

a type of “sound collage” wherein one could hear many

genres of music during the course of one piece.

If one were versed in classical vocabulary, one might recognize

an allegiance to ballet while looking my work, but mostly that simply serves as

a tool to facilitate a rehearsal process and give the dancers a general base from which to work.

I have built a strong team of collaborators over the years so all facets of a production

are polished and professional: costumes, sound engineering, lighting, set design, graphics, dancing, etc..

Often my work is laced with a dark, indistinguishable humor that

builds tension and/or offers relief within a piece.

I am not afraid of using color or props to enhance the visual experience of the viewer.
